Mobile marketing

Mobile marketing is the marketing of the future. According to Statistics Norway, 98% had their own mobile phone in 2021 and 86% of these used the mobile phone to send SMS privately. The figures represent mobile phone use per average day based on data from people in the age group 9-79 years in 2022. What is the probability that someone in your target group uses their mobile phone actively everyday? Pretty high, right?

The new digital age

The mobile phone has gone from being a tool to becoming an essential part of our everyday life. New research shows that we spend an average of two and a half hours on our mobile phones every day. And many spend far more time than that. The mobile phone has become an extension of our arm. No matter what situation we find ourselves in, our phone is by our side. The irony is that companies on average only spend 13% of their marketing budget on mobile marketing. And of the 13 percent, even less are mobile optimized.

Nevertheless, many companies have realized that the future of marketing is mobile. This has resulted in companies now throwing money at this form of marketing without having thought this through. This results in marketing campaigns and SMS marketing that neither produce results nor are of value to the customer.

Effective mobile marketing

In order to achieve good results with mobile marketing, you have to have a conscious relationship with the mobile marketing and its purpose. First, you need to set some goals for your marketing. What do you want your customers to do when they get your message? Without a clear target, you are shooting blindly.

The next step is to find out who you are talking to. An effective mobile marketing campaign is targeted and well thought out. To achieve the best results, you need to segment your customer groups into smaller groups. Secondly, you need to send targeted campaigns that interest them.

Why should your customers read your SMS?

Before you send the SMS, you need to make sure that the message is appealing enough for the customer to read it. In the same way that lawyers in series like Suits have a strong "opening statement", you need to start your message with a bang! Tell the customer what they will get out of reading your message right away. In addition, the rest of your message must be well designed and impress the customer. You can do that by including emotions in the message. What do you want the customer to feel when they read your message?

The last thing you need to keep in mind is a Call-To-Action! Tell the customer how they can get more information, or buy the product or services you are promoting. If you include a short link at the end of the message, you will also receive specific feedback on the effectiveness of your messages and CTAs.

Mobile marketing is the marketing of the future. If you want to succeed in a digital world full of information, you have to have well-thought-out mobile marketing campaigns. Now that you have all the information you need to succeed, are you ready to get started?
